TRU Infusion CBD — Brand Launch & Product Ecosystem

Overview

TRU Infusion CBD launched during the early growth of the U.S. hemp-derived CBD market. The company needed a brand identity, packaging system, and ecommerce site to support a full product launch.

As Art Director and lead designer, I built the brand from the ground up — developing the visual identity, writing the brand guide, designing the packaging system, and launching the ecommerce website. The initial release included 20–25 SKUs across several product categories, so the work focused on creating a system that could scale.

The Challenge

The CBD market was already crowded, and most brands looked the same. Packaging also had to clearly communicate dosage, strength, and product type on small labels.

The goal was to create a brand that felt trustworthy and modern while supporting a growing product line across tinctures, capsules, topicals, and vape products.

Brand Strategy

The brand needed to feel credible without looking overly clinical.

I built the visual system around a red and gray palette to stand apart from the green-heavy CBD category, paired with clean typography and structured layouts that prioritized clarity.

From the beginning, the focus was on building a repeatable packaging framework rather than designing individual labels.

Building the System

Identity

The identity centers on a bold red brand color supported by neutral tones that keep the packaging clear and readable. Typography and layout rules were documented in a brand guide to ensure consistency across packaging, digital, and marketing materials.

Results

TRU Infusion launched with a full line of branded CBD products and a functioning ecommerce platform. The design system allowed the company to introduce a large number of SKUs while maintaining a consistent visual identity and leaving room for future expansion.

Reflection

This project reinforced the importance of designing systems instead of one-off assets. Building a flexible identity and packaging framework allowed the brand to grow quickly without losing visual consistency.
